Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sweilim, Head of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, met today with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during a fact finding tour of the tsunami-devastated areas, including Aceh. Dr. Al-Sweilim is touring the region as part of the Kingdom's ongoing reassessment of the relief efforts and to determine what other assistance it can provide. 

A January 6 telethon ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has raised well over U.S. $86 million in cash for the victims of the tsunami.  This does not inclide include in-kind contributions from Saudi citizens and companies.  Coordination Group of Arab National and Regional Development Institutions January 14 pledge to raise over $1 billion for the victims of tsunami while the Saudi-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) pledged over $500 million in relief aid operations and reconstruction of devastated areas affected by the tsunami.
