Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received in Riyadh today visiting interior minister of Italy Giuseppe Pisanu, who also met with Chairman of the Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) Dr. Salih bin Homaid, and held talks with Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz. As a result of the talks, an agreement was signed on cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Italy on issues of security.

At a press conference, Prince Nayef confirmed that a comprehensive security agreement will soon be finalized between the Kingdom and the Republic of Italy, relating to the fight against narcotics and money laundering as well as terrorism. He pointed out that meetings have been held in this respect with the European Union (EU), and that Saudi Arabia has signed similar agreements with a number of countries. He said that Italy had expressed full support for the outcome of the Counter-Terrorism International Conference recently held in Riyadh, notably for the establishment of an international counter-terrorism center.
