King Fahd receives President of Azerbaijan

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz received in Riyadh yesterday President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on a short visit to the Kingdom. Today, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan signed two agreements: one for a SR 67.5 million [U.S. $18 million] loan to Azerbaijan from the Saudi Development Fund (SDF) in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the OPEC fund; and the other on mutual protection of investments. At the signing, Minister of Finance Dr Ibrahim Al-Assaf referred to the agreements as a positive contribution to economic cooperation between the two countries.

President Aliyev also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who praised the firm relations that bind the two countries and peoples.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information Dr Salih Al-Namlah met today with a delegation of Azerbaijani media personnel, who were briefed on the Kingdom’s achievements and the services it extends to Islam and Muslims throughout the world.
