Kingdom to provide more funds for tsunami assistance

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has approved the transfer of U.S.$1.5 million to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) for registration as a donation to the international organizations providing emergency relief to victims of the tsunami that struck southeast Asia last December. This money comes from the amounts collected in the campaign conducted by the Kingdom. OIC’s Secretary-General Akmal Ehsan Oglo requested the funding at a recent meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal, explaining the urgency to continue its relief program.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that as part of its ongoing aid to victims of last December’s tsunami in southeast Asia, Saudi Arabia has delivered two ambulances to Sri Lanka.
