Prisoners freed on occasion of King Fahd’s recovered health

The Ministry of Interior announced today that to mark the occasion of the recovery of the health of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has issued a Royal Order granting pardon for a number of prisoners. Those eligible for the royal pardon must not constitute a danger to public security or to the state; such prisoners constitute the majority. Excluded from the pardon are prisoners convicted for major crimes, or detained under special circumstances. Those selected for the granting of pardon must pledge to avoid any recurrence of their crime. Directives have been issued to the Governors of all the provinces and to all concerned authorities.
