Commenting on approval by the Council of Ministers of the draft for new civil aviation regulations following its decision to transform the sector into a public commission, financially and administratively independent and run on a commercial basis, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz said the move complies with international trends and meets the dynamic requirements of the air transportation industry. Saudi Arabia, he declared, as an effective member of the Civil Aviation Organization desires to live up to its commitments, including the enforcement of international standards. In particular, he vowed that the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, whose Board of Directors he heads, will exert greater efforts to improve and develop the standard of services provided by airports for its users, both passengers and aviation companies.
