Civil Defense preparing for Hajj

Makkah’s Director of Civil Defense Col. Jameel Arbaeen said yesterday his officers had inspected 5,176 buildings and over 750 restaurants and hotels in the city to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The Civil Defense also inspected 51 tunnels throughout Makkah, Col. Arbaeen said.   He added that the department has seven teams on duty to monitor radioactive, chemical and bacterial pollution inside tunnels and in crowded residential areas.  The Department of Civil Defense is also preparing its fleet of helicopters to take part in firefighting, reconnaissance, and search and rescue operations for the Hajj.
