Six firms win GCC power grid contracts

Six companies have won 13 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) power grid contracts worth US $1.079 billion to implement the first phase of a multibillion-dollar project to link the six GCC member states with an electricity network. The first phase will link Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, Deputy Minister of Electricity Affairs Dr. Saleh bin Hussain Alawaji, chairman of the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), said today.
