Contracts signed for six new desalination plants in the Kingdom

Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah Al-Hussayen signed contracts worth more than $189 million to establish six new desalination plants in the Kingdom. The new plants in Al-Wajh, Amlah, Laith, Qunfuda and Farasan will each supply approximately 2.4 million gallons of water a day, while the Rabigh plant will provide around 4.8 million gallons daily.

The new plants will double the water supply for villages and towns on the Kingdom’s west coast and end the water crisis there, Al-Hussayen said.
