Interior minister asserts Iranian role in regional stability

Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, during his recent visit to Tehran, made a statement to the Iranian news agency Mehr that was published yesterday, asserting that Iran can contribute positively to achieving security in the region. Saudi Arabia and Iran, he said, can play important roles in stabilizing the Middle East, and Iraq in particular. He reiterated the Kingdom’s belief that the destabilization of Iraq would negatively affect the security of its neighboring countries, and stressed the need to prevent saboteurs and terrorists from crossing borders.

Commenting on acts of terrorism in Saudi Arabia, Prince Nayef asserted that steps had been taken to combat the destructive groups that have been trying to destabilize the Kingdom and spread panic among citizens, and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s determination to eradicate terrorism in all its forms.
