Saudi Arabia's all-news satellite channel began broadcasting today. Ministry of Culture and Information Minister Dr. Fouad Al-Farsy said Al-Ikhbariya will offer continuous coverage of international news and current affairs, as well as live debates. "The channel will strive for credibility and a swift response to news of national, Arab and international importance." The news channel brings the number of Saudi television channels to four, including a sports channel. According to a June 2003 Zogby International poll, 91% of Saudis watch satellite television, and nearly two-thirds (63%) have Internet access.
