Governor of Makkah Province Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz issued a statement today denying media reports that contaminated doses of vaccine had been used in mobile medical campaigns targeting children in Jeddah. He gave assurances that the report, quoting a senior health official in Makkah Province, is totally without foundation. Minister of Health Dr. Hamad Al-Mane’ also denied the press report, commenting that in fact no vaccination campaigns are currently taking place in Jeddah, the most recent being one against meningitis that ended two weeks ago. Moreover, such campaigns take place either inside homes or at the ministry's dispensaries, and never on the streets.

Both Prince Abdulmajeed and Dr. Al-Mane’ urged the media to adhere to the ethics of their profession that require verification by the authorities concerned where there is sensitive news that affects citizens and residents. Newspapers are platforms for spreading the truth, not false information and rumors.
