Prince Sultan repeats denial of any dispute with Yemen

Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz reiterated in a television interview today his categorical denial of allegations published in certain Yemeni newspapers that there is a Saudi dispute with Yemen over borders, declaring:“Saudi-Yemeni relations are strong, and direct contacts exist between Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Salih.” Any problems along the border area, he said, such as the issue of the use of barbed wire, are minor, easily contained, and immediately settled. In fact, the barbed wire in question is there to prevent smuggling of drugs and individuals, but if it is proved not to be serving mutual interests, it will be removed.
