Formation of new charity oversight commission
The following statement was issued today by the Royal Court:

"In response to the merciful teachings of Shariah [Islamic Law] that foster brotherhood of the faithful; to enable the noble Saudi people to continue helping their Muslim brothers everywhere; and to eliminate from charitable Saudi operations abroad any misdeeds that might undermine them or distort their reputation: the Saudi government has resolved to clarify regulations of methodology for the organization of such Saudi works of charity. In this context, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has issued order number A/1 dated on 6/1/1425 approving the creation of a charity commission, the Saudi National Commission for Relief and Charity Work Abroad. The royal order stated that the task of forming and administering this Commission will be carried out by a select group of citizens working in the charity field and enjoying experience, integrity and good reputation. The royal order also charged the Commission exclusively with responsibility for all charity work and relief abroad. The Commission will announce its regulations and how it will work as soon as its creation is completed during the next few weeks.”
