Arab League follow-up committees meet in Cairo

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal led the Saudi delegation to the meeting of foreign ministers who are members of the Arab League’s follow-up committee on the Middle East, which concluded their meetings in Cairo today. The committee stressed the need to support the Iraqi people and the importance of holding free elections; and affirmed the necessity of halting construction of Israel’s wall of segregation in the West Bank. Prince Saud commented that there was agreement on reviving the ‘roadmap’ within the framework of rallying support for the Arab peace initiative.
A similar meeting was held following up the situation in the Sudan, with discussion on Arab efforts for reconstruction in the southern part of that country.
