Tourism agency to promote archaeology

Secretary-General of the Supreme Commission for Tourism (SCT) Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, at a press conference yesterday after the opening in Riyadh of an exhibition entitled ‘The Archaeology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’, predicted that the Kingdom's archaeology sector will witness great changes and development under its new affiliation with SCT, with plans for exploration, documentation, publication and training. There are currently ten exploration projects, he said, and 100 to 200 are planned, adding that within five years, there will be a comprehensive data base reflecting land surveys for all historic sites in the Kingdom.
