Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz addressed in Kuwait today the fifth consultative meeting of the interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which issued a final communiqué. Prince Nayef declared that the accelerating incidents in the region following September 11 have imposed new and threatening security equations, highlighted the efforts by the GCC member states in the international fight against terrorism, and paid tribute to Arab and Muslim support, both official and private, for the Saudi government's confrontation with acts of terrorism.

In their final communiqué, the ministers confirmed their absolute support for the measures taken by the Saudi authorities to confront the deviant group that is attacking the Kingdom, and for the agreement that was signed yesterday on combating all forms of terrorism in the region. On Iraq, the communiqué expressed concern over the lack of security and the deterioration of the situation. The ministers also announced the completion of measures dealing with the free movement of citizens throughout the GCC countries using identity cards, and instructed the authorities concerned to expedite enforcement of this measure
