  King Fahd receives U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in Jeddah on July 28, 2004

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz received in Jeddah today U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, who is on a short official visit to the Kingdom. They discussed the Palestinian issue and efforts to return the Middle East peace process to its normal track, as well as the latest developments in Iraq and the concern for that country to perserve its unity, sovereignty and stability, and assume its effective role in the region. Secretary Powell also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

Earlier, Crown Prince Abdullah had received a telephone call from President George W. Bush, with whom he reviewed the regional situation and issues of mutual interest.
