Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz arrived in Taif yesterday. Tomorrow he will lay the foundation stone of the first phase of the new highway from Taif to Abha through Baha. Minister of Transport Dr Jubara Al-Sureisiri pointed out that this highway will contribute greatly to the development of three provinces, Makkah, Baha, and Asir. The first phase, he said, will be completed within three years.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Asir Province Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, who chairs the province’s Tourism Activation Committee, has affirmed that Asir Province is currently witnessing a vast increase in the number of tourists, who are coming from the Arabian Gulf countries as well as inside the Kingdom. There are, he said, many reasons for this increase, such as the integration of the infrastructure of tourist services, the large numbers of resorts available, and the beautiful climate and scenery.
