Arab ministers discuss Darfur as Kingdom sends aid to Sudan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal attended in Cairo today the extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the League of Arab States that was called for by the Republic of Sudan to discuss the situation in its western provinces of Darfur and the required Arab political, security and humanitarian response to the crisis. In a press statement following the meeting, Prince Saud reported that there was unanimous agreement that all forms of support be provided to the Sudanese government, together with endorsement of the efforts of the African Union and the United Nations in this respect.

Meanwhile, a Saudi relief delegation, led by President of the Saudi Red Crescent Society Dr Abdulrahman Al-Suweilim, has visited Darfur to assess the situation there prior to the dispatch of a medical team to Sudan to extend assistance to the displaced people of the region.
