A water pump began operating today to serve the city of El Fashir in northern Darfur, the second in the area, and part of the work of Saudi teams providing relief, medical and rehabilitation services in western Sudan.
Yesterday, a seventh Saudi Red Crescent Society plane arrived in El Fashir, with foodstuffs, tents, medicine, blankets and an ambulance. There are five Saudi clinics in northern Darfur. Three clinics have been established in southern Darfur, and two water wells rehabilitated in that area. A relief team is being sent to survey the needs in western Darfur.
