Saudi Press Association condemns kidnapping of French journalists

The Saudi Press Association has issued a statement condemning the kidnapping in Iraq of two French journalists. The Association’s Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Al-Riyadh Turki bin Abdullah Al-Sudairi declared the Association’s concern at the threat to the lives of the journalists in Iraq, saying this violates the freedom of the press and the right of a human being to carry out his duty in safety. He stressed that the French journalists were in Iraq to carry out a press mission as other journalists do anywhere in the world. Their freedom and safety, he stated, is a necessity that must not be jeopardized in the interests of other purposes and agendas in which they have no part.
