Surrender of wanted militant in Eastern Province

The Interior Ministry announced today that Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Almuqhrin, a Saudi national, had voluntarily surrendered to security authorities. He was wanted for his involvement in setting up an Al-Qaeda cell in the Eastern Province, three of whose members were recently arrested: two Saudis and one expatriate. The cell is suspected of preparing the criminal attack in Al-Khobar on May 30, 2004. Almuqhrin is also suspected of having links to other parties, both inside and outside the Kingdom, that have been planning acts of terrorism.

The Interior Ministry urges anyone who is engaged in activities against his community and his country to surrender himself, as this will be taken into consideration during investigations.
