WAMY condemns hostage-taking in Iraq

The Riyadh-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) today issued a statement condemning the taking of civilians as hostages in Iraq and urging the kidnappers to listen to the advice of Muslim scholars and avoid shedding blood. At the same time, the statement reiterated the right of the Iraqi people to regain their independence and freedom, called on the occupying forces to leave the country, and urged western governments and institutions to revise their position concerning the Muslim world and work to remove, through genuine dialogue, the causes of hatred among the nations.
