Kingdom denies British allegation of help given to Al-Khobar terrorists

The Ministry of Interior today repudiated the statement by British Ambassador to the Kingdom Sherard Cooper-Coles who, during an interview on BBC-Radio 4 on September 7, expressed the belief that Saudi security officers might have helped in the escape of some of the terrorists who stormed the Oasis residential complex in Al-Khobar on May 30. The Ambassador’s interpretation of the incident reflects only his own point of view, lacks evidence, and does not conform in any way with the facts as announced at the time with the utmost transparency: the security officers concerned comported themselves in accordance with their responsibilities and duties, the priority being the rescue of the residents of a facility accommodating hundreds of people from different nationalities, including children and women.
