Winners announced for Prince Sultan Water Prize

Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz chaired a meeting in Riyadh yesterday of the Council for the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water, during which the participants approved the names of the prizewinners. The winners of the prize are: from the United States, Dr Jerry Stinger and Herman Power; and from Egypt, Dr Hisham Taha Abdullah Al-Dasouki and Dr Hisham Mohammed Al-Toni. Also awarded a prize is the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Khaled commented that the winners are not confined to a certain nationality or a particular religion. He noted that the world is facing problems of water pollution as well as drought, referred to the third conference on water in the Arab countries that was recently held in Lebanon, and warned against the failure to rationalize water consumption. Attending the meeting were Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah Al-Hussein and Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr Mahmoud Abu Zaid.
