Census results show population total of 22.7 million

The Department of Statistics at the Ministry of National Economy and Planning announced today that the population of Saudi Arabia, as of September 15, 2004 with the results of the recently-conducted census, stands at 22,673,538. This figure constitutes 16,529,302 Saudi nationals (72.9 percent of the total) and 6,144,236 foreign residents (27.1 percent). Of the Saudi nationals, 8,285,662 (50.1 percent) are male and 8,243,640 (49.9 percent) are female; and of the foreigners, 4,271,598 (69.5 percent) are male and 1,872,638 (30.5 percent) are female.
