Saudi leaders congratulate Muslims on 1424 Eid Al-Fitr

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today issued a statement congratulating Muslims worldwide as well as the Kingdom’s citizens on the advent of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, which was earlier announced as falling on Tuesday, November 25. The speech was read on radio and television by the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Fuad Al-Farsi.

The King and the Crown Prince prayed to God Almighty that security, peace, prosperity, glory and progress prevail in all Muslim nations and among Muslims everywhere, and that He accept and reward all their prayers and fasting. The Holy Month of Ramadan and the Eid Al-Fitr, they pointed out, reflect the unity and cohesion of all Muslims, which call for renunciation of all differences and dissention. They observed that the Muslim world, which has been honored by God with His divine message, is witnessing international situations and global changes that necessitate thought, contemplation, and self-review in order to determine the right track and take the appropriate position. A faithful Muslim, they said, deals with the situation in accordance with the teachings of the religion, following the Prophet (peace be upon him), who was an example of tolerance and mercy.  They stressed that how Muslims react to events should not be changed according to circumstances and whims, but should be consistent and based on firm standards, stable bases, strong values and methodological fundamentals, that cannot be swayed by personal interests, immediate benefits or personal whims. A true Muslim follows justice in his dealings with people and promotes the prosperity of all humanity.

The Saudi leaders’ speech affirmed that the true Muslim does not wreak havoc on earth nor does he seek to destroy the universe. The truth is that Islam has nothing in common with those groups that claim to be Islamic yet perpetrate random acts of terrorism. These acts are a result of a deviant ideology, wrong behavior and abnormal thought, and are far away from the right track. Those people who wreak havoc on earth will reside in Hell, according to verses from the Holy Qur’an. Unification of efforts is needed, they said, to correct these errors, point out these wrong ideologies, and rehabilitate and put back on the right track those who have deviated. They also placed emphasis on working together to eradicate the causes of and reasons for this deviation, calling for the implementation of the true teachings of Islam in accordance with the Holy Qur’an and Prophet's traditions.

In conclusion, the King and the Crown Prince again expressed their congratulations, and stressed the need to work for the stability and security of Muslim countries and of the entire world, to remove all obstacles in the way of stability, and to uproot the causes of insecurity.
