Computerized Hajj permits for citizens and residents now in effect

The Ministry of Pilgrimage is introducing new regulations for the issue of Hajj permits to citizens and expatriates living in the Kingdom. The Al-Mukhae Company will process through their database permits for the 1424 Hajj pilgrimage to be issued by agencies such as the Ministry of Pilgrimage, the Ministry of Civil Service, the National Data Center, and the Department of Passports.

Under the new regulations, it will be mandatory for domestic Hajj companies to contract with Al-Mukhae's affiliates such as the Arab Company, the Arab Group Company for Services, the International Internet Company and Al-Jeraisy Company, and to provide pilgrims with accommodation and all other services, including transportation, throughout the Hajj.

Meanwhile, the Hajj Institute of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is currently setting up a street plan database giving information on services for visitors to the Central Area of Makkah in order to provide precise locations during any emergency. The information base, which will be available on an Internet web site, will include the locations of more than 500 hotels and licensed housing facilities; police, civil defense, and Red Crescent stations; and banks, restaurants and shopping malls. The project will be completed by January 2004 to serve pilgrims during the upcoming 1424 Hajj season.
