The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has completed preparations for tomorrow's start of the 1423 sacrificial meat project. IDB's President Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali said today that over 30,000 personnel have been recruited, and that the abattoirs at Mina are ready to receive the sacrifices. Some of the meat will be distributed to those in need in Makkah, and the rest sent to the poor in more than 27 Islamic countries. Since its inception 20 years ago, the project has processed around 8.8 million head of goats, camels and cows.
Meanwhile, the Organization of the Islamic Endowment announced on Saturday that it will expand its sacrificial meat project to reach 12 European and Asian countries, two more than last year.
