New regulations restrict import of genetically-modified products

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abdullah bin Muammar has issued new regulations covering the import of genetically-modified agricultural products, including the stipulation that items such as fruits, fresh vegetables, animal fodder, and seedlings, be clearly labeled as genetically modified in Arabic as well as in English, and be accompanied by official certificates confirming that the products are licensed for consumption in their countries of origin as well as conforming to Saudi standards and the Kingdom's religious and moral values.
