Information minister addresses copyright seminar in Riyadh

Minister of Information Dr. Fouad Al-Farsi inaugurated in Riyadh today a seminar dealing with intellectual property in the field of copyright. The seminar, he said, would contribute to promoting awareness, citing the great attention being paid by the Saudi government to the issue of intellectual property and referring to the Kingdom's accession to the international agreement on copyright. He pointed out that two years ago an independent administration was established for issues of copyright, and that arrangements are underway to open branches throughout the Kingdom. He went on to comment on the importance of developing mass media, and expressed the hope that the association of journalists would play an effective role in protecting the rights of its members.
