STC to introduce new services, ready for competition

The Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) is planning to introduce new cell phone services during the final quarter of this year, including Internet access, through a program called 'Mobilenet', to be launched in August. The number of mobile phones in the Kingdom is expected to reach around seven million before the end of 2003. STC is ready for competition in 2004: the Council of Ministers recently gave the green light for a new cell phone company to be established by then.
