King Fahd receives Palestinian Prime Minister

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz received in Jeddah on Saturday Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, who conveyed greetings from Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. During the meeting, they reviewed developments in the Palestinian territories, efforts to implement the roadmap, and the outcome of the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United States.

Dr. Abbas, who left Jeddah today after a short visit to the Kingdom, was received on Friday by Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.  Their talks focused on the stalled Middle East peace process; efforts to implement the 'roadmap' in order to achieve the creation of an independent Palestinian state on its national soil with Al-Quds [East Jerusalem] as its capital; and the Crown Prince's initiative that was adopted by the 2002 Arab Summit in Beirut. Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz was present. Dr. Abbas also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal, and with Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz.
