Three security officers killed in clash with suspects in Riyadh

The Ministry of Interior has reported that investigations are underway into an incident in Riyadh yesterday afternoon. About 3:00 pm, a security patrol became suspicious of a truck wrongly parked on a street in the district of Shabra, to the west of the city of Riyadh. Machine fire suddenly broke out, coming from a car parked on the opposite side of the street. A second security patrol rushed to the site of the incident and joined in the exchange of fire with the suspects, most of whom managed to flee. In the firefight, three security officers were killed, and two others injured. One of the suspects was wounded, and taken to hospital. The truck and the materials loaded on it were confiscated. A number of people have been detained in connection with the incident.

Today, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Province Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz performed funeral prayers at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque for the three slain security officers, named as Deputy Sergeant Ahmed Mubarak Al-Shammari, Private Mukbil Owieidah Al-Juhani, and Private Mohammed Al-Jabiri. Prince Sattam also went to the hospital to visit one of the injured men, Sergeant Abdullah bin Shalih Al-Oteibi. The other had been discharged after treatment.
