Saudi Aramco working on production of low-sulfur diesel fuel

Saudi Aramco is planning to construct two diesel hydro-treater (DHT) complexes at its refineries in Yanbu and Riyadh to process and produce low-sulfur diesel fuel, starting by the year 2006. This will significantly cut emissions of toxic sulfur oxides from motor vehicles and local industrial plants that use diesel. Both complexes will process Arabian crude distillates to produce diesel fuel that contains sulfur content reduced from one per cent by weight (10,000 parts per million) to 0.05 per cent (500 ppm). The designs of the complexes and the lump sum turnkey (LSTK) contracts have all been completed.
