Interior ministry gives more details of Jizan incident

The Ministry of Interior has issued more details on the incident in Jizan on September 23, 2003, giving the names of two of the terrorist suspects who were killed as Turki bin Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Thakfan Al-Qahtani and Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ali Eisa Al-Shihri. One of the slain terrorists had already been named as Sultan Gubran Sultan Algahtany, who was on the May 6 list of 19 wanted, and who was also sought by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. In the apartment were found weapons, including seven machine guns, and incriminating computer items.

Security forces had evacuated the area around the apartment building in the residential complex of the King Fahd Hospital in the city of Jizan and asked the terrorists to surrender, but they opened fire. During the firefight Sergeant Hussein bin Mufrih bin Mohammed bin Hantoul was killed and four other security officers injured.
