ANCHOR LEAD:   According to some, US/Saudi relations are strained…but the White House says relations are strong.  Saudi Prince Bandar is meeting with President Bush in Texas this week and analysts are watching the visit closely.  That story in 3, 2, 1 …

ANNOUNCER:      Whether they’re warm or cold, it’s a critical time in US/Saudi relations.  Foreign Policy Advisor to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Adel Al-Jubeir says this week’s visit of Saudi Prince Bandar with President Bush at his Texas ranch shows the strength of the two country’s relationship.

AL-JUBEIR:        “The president, by inviting Prince Bandar to his private ranch in Texas, is taking a very clear position in this regard.  The president also spoke yesterday with the Crown Prince and assured him that what was being bandied about by some quarters in the United States regarding Saudi Arabia is simply not true and that he doesn’t subscribe to it.”
