Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, who is also chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, attended yesterday's regular general meeting of the Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) and warned against exploiting the pilgrims, stressing the Kingdom's responsibility to serve them. The Shura Council session was addressing matters pertaining to transportation of pilgrims during the upcoming 1423 Hajj season. Under discussion were car hire facilities and regulations governing foreign airlines. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Pilgrimage Iyad Madani.
At a press conference following the meeting, Prince Nayef confirmed that about one hundred people had been arrested in the Kingdom on charges of terrorism, and these are being interrogated. As for Saudi detainees in Guantanamo, he said reports of their imminent release are not true. Referring to Saudis arrested in Morocco, he declared that they were members of a terrorist organization planning to carry out acts of terror in Tabuk and Jeddah.
