Minister of Commerce Osama Faqih delivered the Kingdom's statement to the Global Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday, and expressed Saudi Arabia's appreciation of the Summit's outstanding efforts towards attaining the goals of sustainable development for humankind.

At a press conference on Monday, Minister Faqih described the Summit as a success, citing the energy protocol that had been reached following eight days of tough negotiations. He went on to declare that soft financing, technical aid and transfer of technology are fundamental for implementing the various aspects of development, and made a point of praising the contributions to the conference of certain advanced countries who listened and gave a positive response to appeals presented by civil society organizations especially those of women, young people, and children.
