King Fahd celebrates twenty years on the throne

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz will celebrate tomorrow the twentieth anniversary of his accession to the throne on Shaaban 21, 1402. Speaking on the occasion, Governor of the Eastern Province Prince Muhammad bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz praised King Fahd's pioneering role in developing the country, and pointed out his concern to provide the citizens with all services and facilities. The King, he said, had earlier served as the nation's first Minister of Education, and had always felt that education is central to ensuring security and bringing about progress. During his reign there was put in place the Basic System of Governance, the provincial system, and the modern Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura); and in addition, the Higher Economic Council (HEC), the Supreme Council for Petroleum and Minerals (SCPM), the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), and the Higher Commission for Tourism (HCT).
