New Internet site on Hajj to be launched Saturday

A new web site, to be called "Bawwabat Al-Hajj" [Gateway to the Hajj] and accessible at http://www.tohajj.com will be launched on Saturday by Governor of Makkah Province Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz. The site is a gift from the Harf Company, which will develop and manage it. The company's Director-General Dr. Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuweijri explained that it will be available in Arabic, English, French, German, Spanish, Indonesian, Malay, Turkish and Urdu. It consists of over 100,000 electronic pages highlighting the Hajj rituals in accordance with the four major schools of jurisprudence, and gives a complete account of how the Prophet Muhammad performed them. Audio-visuals illustrate the rituals of both Hajj and Umrah (the minor pilgrimage), and present rare photographs of the Holy Places. There are also a number of specialized sections, such as one specifically for female pilgrims and another for fatwa (Islamic religious opinions) by well-known scholars on Hajj-related issues, as well as a glossary of Hajj terms, a collection of supplications and invocations by the Prophet, and a list of common errors committed in performing the Hajj rituals.
