Heritage items returned to Kingdom

Secretary-General of the Supreme Commission for Tourism and Chairman of the National Heritage Foundation Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz attended a ceremony at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center yesterday to celebrate the return to Saudi Arabia of a number of antique pieces that had been held for over thirty years at Harvard University in the United States, having originally been taken out of the Kingdom by Thomas Berger, the first President of Aramco. In his speech, Prince Sultan said the Kingdom, the cradle of Islam, "was and is still is a concourse for civilizations", and praised the noble gesture of the Berger family in arranging for the return of the pieces. He added that the tourism commission is trying to bring back other antiquities taken by former employees of Aramco.
