Minister of Agriculture and Water Dr. Abdullah bin Muammar reported today that the situation regarding foot and mouth disease is stable in over 80 percent of the areas affected, with no reports of new cases. Vaccine, he said, is being distributed throughout the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce Osama Faqih issued yesterday regulations for the import of meat and diary products, giving 30 days for their implementation by all concerned parties, such as laboratories and quality inspection centers. The regulations include a ban on "imported lamb, goat, cow, and chicken meat whether frozen or canned or in any other form if the country of origin is infected by any contagious disease according to the rules of quarantine in the Kingdom".
