Council of ministers meeting

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz today chaired the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, and reiterated the Kingdom's denunciation of Israel's brutal attacks on the innocent Palestinian people. Saudi Arabia, he said, calls on all peace-loving countries to expedite action to halt this blatant Israeli aggression, which challenges the will of the international community and heedlessly violates the simplest of human rights.

Briefing the cabinet on consultations he had had with a number of Arab leaders, King Fahd stressed the Kingdom's constant concern to promote and maintain fraternal relations with all sisterly and friendly countries at all levels and in all areas, paying tribute to Saudi foreign policy since the days of King Abdulaziz as strengthening relations with peace-loving countries on the bases of mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
The cabinet then passed a number of resolutions, including approval that the Kingdom join the biological diversification agreement, assigning the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD), the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, and the Meteorology and Environmental Protection Agency (MEPA) to follow up its implementation. Other resolutions were authorization for the Interior Minister or his deputy to hold talks for conclusion of an agreement with the Republic of Azerbaijan on extradition of accused and convicted persons; approval of an amendment of the regulations governing ownership of real estate in the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); and endorsement of a waiver of import duties on flour and dates provided that the goods originate from a GCC state.
