Health ministry issues statement on meningitis during Hajj 1421

The Ministry of Health has issued a statement saying that during the 1421 Hajj season, with over two million pilgrims from all over the globe, there was a total of only 79 cases of meningitis, 52 of whom recovered. The statement observed that this particular strain of the disease appeared for the first time last year, and that meningitis occurs in many parts of the world, including Europe. The statement further noted that the Saudi authorities require mandatory vaccination against meningitis for anyone who wishes to perform Hajj.
