Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz today addressed the inauguration in Riyadh of the conference on 'Value Engineering'. A nation's progress, he said, depends on its capacity to react with scientific developments and utilize them for economic and social purposes. He reiterated the Kingdom's concern to adopt development plans in line with a clear strategy so as to meet the requirements of the citizens and the country at present and in the future.

Prince Sultan pointed out that the Kingdom had made great strides in the field of value engineering, expressing pride that the profession of value engineering is managed by Saudis.  He urged both private and public sectors to apply value engineering in order to increase the output of their investment projects and improve the efficiency of the productive sectors. He went on to announce that the Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) had studied the draft of a system for the Saudi Engineers' Commission, and he hoped it would soon be endorsed by the Council of Ministers.
