Saudi Arabia endorsed as member of WHO Council

The 54th General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), held in Geneva May 14-22, 2001, has endorsed the selection of Saudi Arabia as member of the executive council, representing the eastern Mediterranean region. The membership, effective from January 2001, is for a period of three years. Appointed to the post is Dr. Yaqub bin Yousef Al-Mazrou, Assistant Undersecretary for Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Health.
