Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz held talks in Damascus yesterday with President of Syria Dr. Bashar Al-Assad.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal met with his Syrian counterpart Farouq Al-Shara. In a press statement, Prince Saud highlighted the good relations that exist between the two countries, and stressed that joint Arab efforts are essential in these critical times. Referring to the upcoming Arab Summit in Amman, he reiterated the desire of the Arab states for peace in the region.
Concerning the recent penetration of the Kingdom's borders by Iraqi forces, Prince Saud reported that a memorandum on this had been submitted to the United Nations. Such a penetration, he said, is a matter of annoyance, and attention needs to be paid to prevent its recurrence.
