STC reports on cell phone situation

The Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) reports that there are now two million mobile telephone lines operating in the Kingdom, and cell phone services cover 95 percent of the inhabited areas of the country, including along the various expressways. In addition, STC has introduced a number of new cell phone services, including family plans, messaging, and a system for card subscriptions. Fees and charges have been cut, and the level of service enhanced. New services in the pipeline include electronic notification to subscribers of telephone bills, and acceptance of payment by phone and through ATMs.
